What Island in Hawaii suits a Honeymoon best?

By | Nov 20, 2009

I am tying the knot in October 2012 and plan to take our Honey Moon in Hawaii in November 2012. I have never been to Hawaii before and people keep telling me it's very pricey, which I'm sure it it. But I must go there. Which is a fabulous island in Hawaii? As far as beautiful beach (which most probably are), tourist things, fun activities and a good island for a 1st timer as we would be.

I was considering between the following islands:
Honolulu, HI
Oahu, HI
Kaua`i, HI
Kailua-Kona, Big Island, HI

If you've been there before, please share the island you visited and your experience.

Laysan Island, a very isolated Hawaiian island and you can be alone .

Yup been alla these place, so I help you if I can, ok? Now Honolulu not great place for honeymoon, ok? Big buildings, near boat harbor, beach crummy, mainly business, ok? And, of course, Honolulu onna island of Oahu, so first two choice kina similar, ok? Now, Kauai, great island, have great resort, and lotta thing to do, so it definitely inna running for choice, also Kona side of Big Island, too, ok? Really alla you choices good, just need fine tune, ok? Waikiki great place for honeymoon, but kina crowded, now, Turtle Bay ova on otha side of island, nice, not crowded, and lotta thing to do, mountain bike, hike, horseback ride, golf, ok? Also, consider Maui, cause it traditionally for lover, ok? (Hawaiian tradition, ok?) So, really, cept for Honolulu proper, alla choice you have great so just pick one, can't go wrong. Peace and aloha to you!

Honolulu is the main city/capital of Hawaii, and it's on the island of Oahu.

If you don't need to "party" or do fancy restaurants, etc., and you mainly want a pretty honeymoon, you probably want off of Oahu.

In that case, you're probably looking at something like Kauai, the Kona area of the Big Island, or you may even want to consider Maui. For something like a honeymoon, Maui can actually provide a good variety of activities while at the same time not quite having the city life of Honolulu/Oahu.

It might help to know your ages though and what kinds of activities you want to get up to (snorkeling, biking, museums, etc.).

Kauai is the most romantic, for newlyweds as there are lots of beautifully scenic places to have weddings as well as to have honeymoons for one on ones with your newly seized significant other.

From the areas you're considering, I would recommend Kauai. Another possibility would be Maui.

Oahu (Honolulu) is too crowded if you'd like rest and relaxation. And the Big Island's coast is rockier due to the volcanoes, so beaches aren't as nice.

Maui has great beaches and tons of tourist/fun things to do, while giving you the rest and relaxation you're looking for. Kauai has great beaches and plenty to explore (not quite as much as Maui though) and is more secluded than Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. It's definitely a romantic getaway.

You can find an article reviewing Hawaiian islands on the website included here, and you can find free help there. All the best!
